My shitty router keeps dropping signal strength all the time, is there any way to fix this or do I just need a new, non-shitty router?

do you mean signal strength as seen from a wireless device? If you live in a populous area that is likely due to interference.

You could try a new router, but it could just be your environment. I had the same problem, so I bought a new router and nothing changed.

Could be environment. Lifehacker had a post a while back about improving router signal or something. Apparently other electronics can interfere like microwave ovens.
My gf likes to move ours behind the tv because it's ugly otherwise. When she does the service gets spotty or slow on the other side of the house. I'll realize she's done it when I can't get wifi on my phone and have to move it back

Haha, my household does the same appearance vs. functionality dance. And not only with the router. The placement of a new rug blocks our bedroom door from closing. I voiced my dissent and was overruled. K, GOING FOR A DRIVE HON!

Make sure you’re not using 5ghz. That will decrease range greatly.
